Doomscrolling vs. Micro-Pauses
When we take a break, we instinctively reach for our phones. But scrolling social media often leaves us more drained, not less.
The Art of the Visual Reset
A "micro-pause" is a short break (1-3 minutes) where you intentionally shift your focus to something calming or neutral.
The MiroCards Reset:
Instead of checking news, open MiroCards and look at the visuals for 60 seconds.
- Notice the colors.
- Follow the lines.
- Breathe.
This engages your visual cortex without overloading your verbal/processing centers. It's like a palate cleanser for your brain.
Benefits
- Reduced eye strain: (If looking at soft colors)
- Lower cortisol: Breaking the cycle of "urgency"
- Fresh perspective: Returning to work with a "cleansed" mind
Treat your attention like a limited resource. Spend it wisely.
